Food and Hunting The Inuit had to hunt during the winter because it was their source of food. During the summer they could pick berries and roots of plants. During the summer they also took bird eggs. To the Inuit, seal was very important. Seal was used for food and their pelts were for clothing. The Inuit also used dog for sniffing out prey.

Shelter and Clothing
The Inuit made Igloos during the winter. Igloo means home in the Eskimo luanguage. A small igloo can have 2 people and tkes about a couple hours to build. They are ussualy only useed for one or two nights. A medium igloo can fit about two families and about five hours to build. These are ussualy used for six months. A large igloo can fit 20 people and can take a day to finish. These are sometimes used for celebrations and special events. During the summer they made huts out of bone and and animal skin. The bone was the frame and the skin covered the frame. The Inuits wore animal skin coats, called parkas to protect them from thr freezing weather. Women had larger hoods to hold babies.
